Wo. 2145/1918,

S1F,

Colonial Secretary's Office,

Hong Kong, 10th, July, 1918.

147

I am directed to acknowledge the receipt

of your letter of the 20th. June, transmitting your report

on the investigations of the outbreak of epidemic meningitis

in Hongkong, which, with three extra copies of the report,

was handed to me by you on the 6th. July.

His Excellency the Governer has perused

the report with much interest, and desires me to convey to

you his great appreciation of your valuable work during the

short period you have been in Hongkong.

The clear and practical recommendations

made in your report will have the earnest consideration of

this Government, and it is hoped that it may be possible

to take such measures as will tend to ameliorate the con-

ditions existing in the Colony and to combat the spread of

the

pidemic.

I am,

etc.,

(84.) Claud Severn.

Colonial Secretary.

First Lieut. Peter K, Olitsky, M.R.C., U.S.A.
